Procedure Description:
Initial Allergy Consultation

What To Expect:
All visits are by appointment. If your insurance requires a referral you should contact your primary physician for authorization.

Your first visit is usually scheduled for 1 hour. A detailed history of your allergy problems will be obtained; a physical exam will be performed; if indicated, allergy skin tests and breathing function tests will be obtained. Initial diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations will be discussed with you. Unless you request otherwise, a summary letter detailing diagnoses and recommendations will be sent to your primary physician.

Preprocedure:
Please avoid using anti-histamine medications for 3 days and beta blocker medications for 1 day prior to your initial visit because these medications interfere with allergy testing. If you have questions about your medications, please call several days before your visit.
